What is a virtual chemistry lab?
A virtual lab is an interactive simulation of a real experiment. You choose the reagent, decide when to heat, add drops from a burette or clean a wire, and the simulation shows what you would see at the bench: colour changes, precipitates, gases and readings. Because the rules behind each result are real chemistry, doing a step out of order gives the same misleading result it would in a school laboratory.
Why practise practicals online?
- Learn the procedure before lab time. Most school practical periods are short. Knowing the steps in advance lets you spend them on technique.
- Revise for the practical exam and viva. Every lab page lists the aim, apparatus, theory, procedure, observation table, precautions and viva questions with answers.
- Understand the theory behind JEE and NEET questions. Flame colours come from atomic spectra, group separation from solubility products, and titration curves from ionic equilibrium.
- Repeat as often as you like. Unknown-salt and unknown-concentration modes give a fresh problem every time.

- Salt Analysis Virtual Lab: Anion & Cation Tests: Systematic salt analysis online for CBSE Class 11–12: dry and wet tests for anions, group analysis of cations, confirmatory tests and an auto-filled record.
- Titration Virtual Lab: HCl vs NaOH with pH Curve: Online acid–base titration: HCl or oxalic acid against NaOH with phenolphthalein, a live pH curve, concordant readings and M1V1 = M2V2 worked out.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PrepRung virtual chemistry lab free?
Yes. Every lab is free, needs no login or sign-up and runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers.
Which classes are the virtual labs made for?
They follow the CBSE Class 11 and 12 chemistry practical syllabus and are also useful for Class 10 students and for JEE Main and NEET concept revision.
Can a virtual lab replace the real practical?
No. It is best used to learn the procedure, observations and reasoning before the lab session and to revise before the practical exam and viva. Real handling of apparatus still matters.
Will physics and biology labs be added?
Yes. Physics and biology simulations are planned. Chemistry labs are available now.
