The CBSE Class 12 board exam is the Senior School Certificate Examination for students of CBSE-affiliated schools and eligible private candidates, in Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. It is held once a year from February to early April, with a supplementary exam in July for students who need to clear a subject. Class 12 marks are used for college admission and for eligibility rules in exams such as JEE Main, NEET UG and CUET UG.

CBSE Class 12 FAQ
When will the CBSE Class 12 2027 date sheet be released?
CBSE had not released it by 29 October 2026. It is expected soon on cbse.gov.in. Theory exams are expected from mid-February to early April 2027.
Are there two board exams for CBSE Class 12 in 2027?
No. The two-exam system started only for Class 10 in 2026. Class 12 has one main exam a year and a supplementary exam in July.
What are the passing marks in CBSE Class 12?
You need 33% in each subject. In subjects with practicals, you must pass the theory and practical parts separately (for example 23 out of 70 in Physics theory).
Has the CBSE Class 12 exam pattern changed for 2027?
CBSE said there is no change in question paper design for 2026-27. Science subjects stay at 70 theory and 30 practical, and most others at 80 and 20.
Where can I download the official CBSE Class 12 sample papers?
On cbseacademic.nic.in, under the notice for Sample Question Papers for Classes X and XII for 2026-27. CBSE released them in September 2026.
Which subjects do I need for NEET or JEE?
NEET needs Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English. JEE Main (B.E./B.Tech) needs Physics and Mathematics, plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject. Check each exam's bulletin.
When will the CBSE Class 12 2027 result come?
Not announced. Results came on 13 May in both 2025 and 2026.
Can I appear as a private candidate in CBSE Class 12 2027?
Only in CBSE's private categories, such as failed or essential repeat in an earlier year, compartment, attendance shortage or improvement. The form ran from 8 to 23 October 2026, with a late fee until 30 October.
What happens if I fail in one subject?
You can take the supplementary exam in July in that subject. If you pass it, you get a pass result for the same year.
