Show answer and solution

Answer: 1500

Let CP = C. Selling price at 12% loss = 0.88C. Selling price at 8% profit = 1.08C.

The difference between these two selling prices is ₹300: 1.08C − 0.88C = 300 → 0.20C = 300 → C = 1500.

Check: at a 12% loss, SP = 0.88 × 1500 = 1320; at an 8% profit, SP = 1.08 × 1500 = 1620; difference = 300. ✓
