The average marks of 40 students in a class is 62. When 10 more students join the class, the average marks of all 50 students becomes 64. What is the average marks of the 10 new students?

Total marks of original 40 students = 40×62 = 2480. Total marks of all 50 students = 50×64 = 3200. Total marks of the 10 new students = 3200 − 2480 = 720, so their average = 720/10 = 72.
