Numerical answer
Two trains of lengths 150 m and 200 m are running towards each other on parallel tracks at 54 km/h and 72 km/h respectively. How many seconds will they take to cross each other completely?
Show answer and solution
Answer: 10
Relative speed (opposite directions) = 54+72 = 126 km/h = 126×5/18 = 35 m/s. Total distance to be covered while crossing = sum of lengths = 150+200 = 350 m. Time = 350/35 = 10 seconds.
