  1. A. 13ln⁡2\dfrac13\ln 2
  2. B. ln⁡2\ln 2
  3. C. 13\dfrac13
  4. D. 23ln⁡2\dfrac23\ln 2
Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 13ln⁡2\dfrac13\ln 2

Divide numerator and denominator by n3n^3: r2n3+r3=1n⋅(r/n)21+(r/n)3\frac{r^2}{n^3+r^3}=\frac1n\cdot\frac{(r/n)^2}{1+(r/n)^3}. So the sum is a Riemann sum of f(x)=x21+x3f(x)=\frac{x^2}{1+x^3} over [0,1][0,1] with x=rnx=\frac rn. The limit equals ∫01x21+x3 dx\int_0^1\frac{x^2}{1+x^3}\,dx. Put u=1+x3u=1+x^3, du=3x2dxdu=3x^2dx: the integral is 13∫12duu=13ln⁡2\frac13\int_1^2\frac{du}{u}=\frac13\ln2. A numerical sum with n=2×105n=2\times10^5 gives 0.231050.23105, equal to ln⁡23\frac{\ln2}{3}.
