Selection has three stages: a written exam set by UPSC (900 marks), an SSB test and interview (900 marks), and a medical exam. The final merit list adds written and SSB marks (out of 1800). You must clear each written paper and the SSB separately.

Notes
- Both written papers are on the same day, objective type, with OMR answer sheets.
- Mathematics and Part B (GK) of GAT come in both Hindi and English; Part A of GAT is in English only.
- Marking more than one answer to a question counts as a wrong answer. Blank questions get no penalty.
- UPSC fixes the written qualifying marks after each exam; recent cycles also needed at least 25% in each paper.
- Only candidates who clear Stage I of the SSB go to Stage II. The medical exam follows the SSB.
- The number of questions per paper is not printed in the notice; it comes from recent question papers.
