Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 1 only

Insulin lowers blood glucose, so statement 1 is correct. Deficiency of insulin results in diabetes mellitus, not goitre. Goitre, the swelling of the neck, is caused by a lack of iodine, which is needed to make thyroxine. Iodised salt is used to prevent it. So the hormone and the disease named in the two statements are linked to different glands and different deficiencies.
