Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 1 only

Statement 1 is correct: the Tropic of Cancer crosses Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Mizoram. Statement 2 is wrong: the line passes north of Odisha, even though it passes close to the state on its way from Jharkhand to West Bengal. Students often assume Odisha is included because of its eastern location.
