1. Lenz's law is a consequence of the law of conservation of energy.
2. The direction of an induced current is such that it opposes the change producing it.
- A. 1 only
- B. 2 only
- C. Both 1 and 2
- D. Neither 1 nor 2
Show answer and solution
Answer: (C) Both 1 and 2
Lenz's law says the induced current opposes the cause that produces it. If it aided the cause, energy would be created from nothing, so the law follows from conservation of energy. Both statements are therefore correct and in fact say the same thing in two ways.
