Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 1 only

The revolt began at Meerut when sepoys freed their imprisoned comrades and marched to Delhi, so statement 1 is correct. At Lucknow the revolt was led by Begum Hazrat Mahal; Nana Sahib led it at Kanpur. Statement 2 is therefore wrong, and the trap is mixing up the leaders of the two centres.
