Single correct option

The area of a triangle whose sides are 44, 55 and 66 is
  1. A. 1574\dfrac{15\sqrt7}4
  2. B. 1572\dfrac{15\sqrt7}2
  3. C. 1515
  4. D. 1010
Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 1574\dfrac{15\sqrt7}4

The semi-perimeter is s=152s=\dfrac{15}2. Heron's formula gives Δ=152⋅72⋅52⋅32=157516=1574\Delta=\sqrt{\dfrac{15}2\cdot\dfrac72\cdot\dfrac52\cdot\dfrac32}=\sqrt{\dfrac{1575}{16}}=\dfrac{15\sqrt7}4. Using the full perimeter 1515 in place of ss would give a much larger area.
