The inradius of a triangle with sides 9, 40 and 41 is

Single correct option

The inradius of a triangle with sides 99, 4040 and 4141 is
  1. A. 44
  2. B. 55
  3. C. 33
  4. D. 66
Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 44

s=45s=45 and, by Heron's formula, area =45⋅36⋅5⋅4=180=\sqrt{45\cdot36\cdot5\cdot4}=180 (the triangle is right-angled: 92+402=4129^2+40^2=41^2). Inradius r=areas=18045=4r=\frac{\text{area}}{s}=\frac{180}{45}=4. Option 66 comes from using half the perimeter incorrectly as 3030.
