The value of d/dx(x^x at x=1 is

Single correct option

The value of ddx(xx)\dfrac{d}{dx}\left(x^x\right) at x=1x=1 is
  1. A. 00
  2. B. ee
  3. C. 22
  4. D. 11
Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 11

Let y=xxy=x^x, so ln⁡y=xln⁡x\ln y=x\ln x and y′=xx(ln⁡x+1)y'=x^x(\ln x+1). At x=1x=1 this is 1⋅(0+1)=11\cdot(0+1)=1. Using the power rule x⋅xx−1x\cdot x^{x-1} alone gives 11 by coincidence at this point but is wrong in general; 00 treats xxx^x as a constant power.
