If x=t^2 and y=t^3, then (d^2y)/(dx^2 at t=1 is

Single correct option

If x=t2x=t^2 and y=t3y=t^3, then d2ydx2\dfrac{d^2y}{dx^2} at t=1t=1 is
  1. A. 32\dfrac32
  2. B. 33
  3. C. 38\dfrac38
  4. D. 34\dfrac34
Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 34\dfrac34

dydx=3t22t=3t2\dfrac{dy}{dx}=\dfrac{3t^2}{2t}=\dfrac{3t}2. Then d2ydx2=ddt ⁣(3t2)/dxdt=3/22t=34\dfrac{d^2y}{dx^2}=\dfrac{d}{dt}\!\left(\dfrac{3t}{2}\right)\Big/\dfrac{dx}{dt}=\dfrac{3/2}{2t}=\dfrac34 at t=1t=1. Stopping at 3/23/2 forgets to divide by dx/dtdx/dt.
