In Mendel's monohybrid cross between tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) pea plants, the phenotypic ratio in the F2 generation is

Single correct option

In Mendel's monohybrid cross between tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) pea plants, the phenotypic ratio in the F2 generation is
  1. A. 1 tall : 1 dwarf
  2. B. 3 tall : 1 dwarf
  3. C. 1 tall : 3 dwarf
  4. D. all tall
Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) 3 tall : 1 dwarf

The F1 plants are all Tt and tall. On self-pollination they give TT, Tt and tt in the ratio 1 : 2 : 1, so phenotypically 3 tall to 1 dwarf, because TT and Tt both look tall. The genotypic ratio 1 : 2 : 1 is a common trap, and all-tall is the F1 result.
