The Mariana (Challenger Deep) Trench in the western Pacific is about 11,000 m deep and is the deepest known point of the oceans. The Java Trench is the deepest in the Indian Ocean, and the Puerto Rico Trench is the deepest in the Atlantic. Aleutian is also a Pacific trench but is shallower.
