2. Rabindranath Tagore renounced his knighthood in protest against it.

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) Both 1 and 2

Both are correct. Dyer fired without warning on the crowd gathered on Baisakhi in the enclosed Bagh, which had few exits, and Tagore returned his knighthood in a letter to the Viceroy. The Hunter Committee was appointed afterwards, and the incident led Gandhi towards non-cooperation. Choosing only one statement overlooks the well known protest by Tagore.
